Not only the addition of titanium dioxide matting agent plays an important role in the matting of chemical fibres, but also has an impact on the performance of the fibre polymer, the degree of wear and tear of the machine, the use cycle of the filter components, the breakage rate of the spun silk, and the physical and mechanical properties of the fibres.

Therefore, it is not too high in the amount of titanium dioxide matting agent in chemical fibres, such as the addition of titanium dioxide in micro matting polyester chips is only 0.07%; 0.1% to 0.3% for semi matting chips, and 0.5% to 2.5% for full matting chips. Normally, the actual application of titanium dioxide in the addition of 0.2% to 0.5% can achieve good matting and whitening effect, and get similar to the natural fiber opacity, and no significant impact on fiber strength, elongation.

In addition, the application of titanium dioxide matting agent is also very wide. It can be used as a matting agent in the production of chemical fibres, nylon, polyester, acrylic, viscose, polypropylene, etc., what is different is the time period when titanium dioxide is added in the production of fibres.

For example, in the production of nylon 6, titanium dioxide is dispersed in caprolactam to participate in the polymerisation reaction, and then dispersed into each monofilament during spinning. In the production of nylon 66, the titanium dioxide is first dispersed in water and then added during the polymerisation of nylon salts. In polyester production, titanium dioxide is added to the glycol and dispersed uniformly before being added during polymerisation. In the production of acrylics, titanium dioxide is dispersed in aqueous sodium thiocyanate and then mixed into the polyacrylonitrile spinning stock to obtain a homogeneous matting stock containing a quantitative matting agent to spin matted fibres. In the production of viscose fibres, there are two production processes for matting viscose yarn, one is the integral addition method, i.e. titanium dioxide is prepared into a suspension and added to the sulphonation or dissolution process in the viscose production process, directly with the aid of equipment mixing, uniformly dispersed in the viscose. The second is the injection method before spinning, with the help of a set of injection devices before spinning, the titanium dioxide formulated into a suspension in front of the spinning machine and the viscose evenly mixed into the spinning machine. For the production of matting polypropylene, titanium dioxide is mainly added in the form of masterbatches.
