Methods to Improve the Dispersibility of Titanium Dioxide
1. Carry out special organic surface treatment on titanium dioxide to improve its dispersibility. Surface treatment agents used to improve the water dispersibility of titanium dioxide mainly include low-carbon polyhydric alcohols, long carbon chain unit alcohols, long carbon chain unit acids, low carbon polyhydroxy acids, fatty acid salts, organic amines, lipids, nonionic Surfactants, etc. With these materials, after suitable treatment process, better dispersibility can also be obtained.
2. Grind and disperse the titanium dioxide. Wetting → separation → stabilization. After dry grinding and pulverization, the equivalent particle size of most of the particles reaches a certain requirement, and then wet grinding is carried out on the basis of pre-dispersion. Wet grinding can not only improve the efficiency of pre-dispersion before inorganic treatment, but also adjust the shape of particle size, so that the shape of the particles tends to be more spherical and the distribution tends to be concentrated. The fully wet-milled slurry is then screened and classified to remove large particles, thereby further improving the distribution of titanium dioxide and improving its dispersibility.
