Self-test method for authenticity of titanium dioxide

1. Information provided by the supplier.

Each batch of titanium dioxide has a corresponding SGS test report. This is when the supplier pulls the goods back from the manufacturer, the manufacturer will give it to the supplier. Secondly, if the titanium dioxide is imported, the customer can request the supplier to provide the import and export certificate issued by the customs department. Finally, customers can also request product introduction materials from suppliers. The introduction materials should include the following:

1, TiO2% means whiteness, hiding power (opacity, color strength), the higher the percentage content, the greater the whiteness and hiding power.

2, Al2O3% means dispersion, gloss, and weather resistance (treated by dense aluminum). The higher the percentage content, the greater the dispersion and gloss.

3, SiO2% means weather resistance (treated by dense silicon), the higher the percentage, the greater the weather resistance.

4. Organic matter is covered by organic matter, and the dispersibility (wetting) is better.

5, ColorL represents whiteness, brightness (brightness).

6. The average particle size determines the light scattering and shielding properties. The smaller the particle size, the more bluish the color of the titanium dioxide.

7. Oil absorption affects the gloss and dispersion of the system.

8. The resistance value represents the soluble salt content.

2. Identify through packaging.

Imported titanium dioxide usually has its own characteristics (such as patterns, fonts, batch numbers, etc.) on its packaging. First, it can be identified on its packaging. Secondly, the sealing of imported titanium dioxide has characteristics, which is different from that of domestic titanium dioxide. same.

3. Physical testing methods.

1. The easiest way is to compare the hand feel, fake titanium dioxide is smoother, and real titanium dioxide is astringent.

2, water flush. If you put titanium dioxide on your hands, the fake ones are easy to wash off, but it is really not easy to wash off.

3. Take a cup of water, throw the titanium dioxide into it, the ones that float up are true, and those that settle down are false.

Fourth, chemical detection methods.

1. Light calcium or heavy calcium: adding dilute sulfuric acid or hydrochloric acid, bubbles can make the clarified lime water turbid, because calcium carbonate will react with acid to produce carbon dioxide.

2, mixed with lithopone: add dilute sulfuric acid or hydrochloric acid, it smells of rotten eggs.

3. It is made into latex paint, iron red is added, and the color is dark, indicating that the poor hiding power is fake or poor quality titanium dioxide.

4. For those mixed with BaSO4, because it cannot react with acid, generally it can only be identified by X-ray diffraction.

5. It is difficult to distinguish the anatase-type titanium dioxide that is pretended to be rutile-type by general chemical methods and can only be identified by X-diffraction method.
