Electrode grade titanium dioxide is one of the main raw materials of the electrode industry, accounting for more than 70% of the total production of electrodes, titanium type, titanium calcium type and ilmenite type and other three types of electrodes of the electrodes of the coating, are to use electrode grade titanium dioxide. 

Electrode grade titanium dioxide is the main component of the electrode skin, it is a good slagging agent, deoxidizer, diluent, binder and stabilizer of the welding flux. Electrode grade titanium dioxide in the flux is also very good deoxidation ability, in the welding process can protect the molten metal, to prevent the invasion of oxygen or nitrogen in the air into the weld and reduce the strength and plasticity of the weld, in addition to titanium and nitrogen to form a stable titanium nitride, quickly into the slag, thereby excluding the impact of nitrogen on the weld. At the same time welding rod grade titanium dioxide has strong adhesion, in the welding rod manufacturing process can reduce the amount of water glass, so that the finished surface is smooth, easy to point arc when welding.

So its perennial need for large quantities and high quality requirements:

(1) less impurity content, the content of sulfur and phosphorus can not exceed 0.05%, because sulfur and phosphorus in welding without volatilization and transfer to the weld metal, sulfur can make the weld bubbles and thermal cracks (thermal brittleness), phosphorus can produce cold cracks (cold brittleness).

(2) small and uniform particles, 45μm sieve sieve residue to be less than 0.5%.

(3) the apparent specific volume between 0.8 to 0.9g/ml, such as too small is poor viscosity, in the formulation to increase the amount of water glass, so as to affect the welding operation of ignition.
