With the different types of titanium dioxide, the chemical composition and properties are different due to different manufacturing processes, crystalline forms and surface treatment methods, which have different effects on the chemical reaction activity and dispersion of polyester epoxy powder coatings, and have an obvious effect on the gelation time and melt level fluidity of the powder coatings, as well as on the fluidity, gloss, colour difference and impact resistance of the coating film.

Statistics show that powder coatings formulated with anatase titanium dioxide have greater activity, shorter gelation time, less melt level fluidity, poor film flatness and lower gloss than powder coatings formulated with rutile (R-type) titanium dioxide.

Anatase titanium dioxide colour is divided into non-coloured and coloured, non-coloured refers to black, white and different shades of grey between these two, the reflectance of non-coloured on the white and black series represents the brightness of the object. The higher the reflectance, the closer to white, and the lower the reflectance, the closer to black. The colour spectrum refers to the various colours other than the white and black series. The different wavelengths of the spectrum manifest themselves visually as various shades of colour, such as red, orange, yellow, green, cyan and violet. To say exactly what a particular colour is, one must take into account the three basic attributes of colour, namely hue, saturation and lightness, which form a unified total effect in vision.

The colour hue is determined by which wavelengths dominate in the light reflected from the object, different wavelengths produce different colour perceptions, and hue is the basic feature that determines the nature of colour. The saturation of anatase titanium dioxide colour refers to the degree of sharpness of a colour. Hue, brightness and saturation are the three basic attributes of colour, while non-colour has only the difference of brightness, but not the two attributes of hue and saturation.

Paints are mixed and matched following a subtractive colour principle, whose three primary colours are yellow, cyan and violet, and their complementary colours are blue, red and green. The so-called complementary colours are the two colours mixed in a certain proportion to obtain white colour light, the complementary colour of red is cyan, the complementary colour of yellow is blue and the complementary colour of green is violet.
