Tinting Base Phase of Titanium Dioxide
Tinting base phase is also known as grey paint hue, or base layer hue. It is affected by the average particle size of titanium dioxide and its scattering ability of the size is very obvious, different particle sizes in different wavelengths will show different hues, can be expressed by the following formula: the bottom colour = blue tones / red tones.
The average particle size of titanium dioxide is 0.2μm, it has a strong scattering power for the short wave of blue light (400nm) in visible light, the bottom layer of colour with a slight blue phase, when the average particle size of titanium dioxide is 0. 4μm, it has a strong scattering power for the long wave of red light (700nm) in visible light, the bottom layer of colour with a slight red phase. The use of titanium dioxide with the correct base colour is essential for accurate colour picking. This difference in base colour is difficult to remedy with the colour of the pigment.
